Sma Shot Day Paisley 1986 - 2012

Garry Byars artistic endeavour was first brought to public attention, when he was commissioned by Renfrewshire District Council to create a replica of the Charleston Drum in 1986. This same drum has until this day, led the traditional Paisley Weavers Festival Parade, ‘Sma Shot Day’, through the streets of Paisley

Gathering international recognition and after 20yrs Garry was brought back to restore the Drum in 2009.

Tom Lawler who carries the drum through the streets of Paisley has recently been given the Freedom of Renfrewshire
